1. Our commitment

Inner Edge Psychology is committed to the safety, wellbeing, and empowerment of all children and young people who take part in our workshops, consultations, or other services, whether delivered directly or through a booking organisation such as a school, club, or sporting body.

We have zero tolerance for child abuse. All children have an equal right to protection from abuse and harm, regardless of age, ability, gender, sexuality, culture, or background.

2. Scope

This Policy applies to Megan Allen sole trader trading as Inner Edge Psychology, and to any subcontractor, associate, or other person engaged by Inner Edge Psychology to help deliver services where children or young people (under 18) may be present.

3. Legal and policy context

This Policy has been prepared with reference to Victoria's 11 Child Safe Standards, which set minimum requirements for organisations that provide services to children and young people in Victoria. Where Inner Edge Psychology delivers services in another state or territory, the equivalent child safety scheme in that jurisdiction will also apply.

This Policy is also intended to be consistent with the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and, where relevant, Sport Integrity Australia's National Integrity Framework, which many sporting organisations require their contractors and service providers to comply with.

4. Working with Children Check

Megan Allen holds a current Working with Children Check (WWCC):

A current Working with Children Check will be maintained at all times while Inner Edge Psychology provides services involving children or young people, and evidence of this can be provided to a booking organisation on request.

5. Code of conduct when working with children and young people

When delivering workshops or consultations involving children and young people, Inner Edge Psychology will:

• treat all children and young people with respect, and listen to and take seriously any concerns they raise;

• communicate with children and young people in a manner that is appropriate to their age and understanding;

• avoid unsupervised, one-on-one contact with a child or young person wherever possible, and ensure a responsible adult from the booking organisation (such as a coach, teacher, or club official) is present during sessions;

• only use communication channels (email, phone, messaging) that are appropriate and, copy in a responsible adult from the booking organisation;

• only photograph, record, or use images of children in accordance with the consent obtained under our Photography, Video, and Testimonial Consent process;

• model appropriate behaviour and language at all times.

6. Responding to concerns, disclosures, or complaints

If Inner Edge Psychology becomes aware of, or suspects, that a child or young person has been harmed, abused, or is at risk of harm, we will:

• take the concern seriously and respond promptly;

• where there is immediate danger to a child, contact Victoria Police on 000;

• notify the relevant booking organisation (school, club, or sporting body), which will typically have its own reporting obligations and processes; and

• where required by law, report the concern to the relevant statutory child protection authority.

Any person — including a child, parent, guardian, coach, or booking organisation — who has a concern about the conduct of Inner Edge Psychology towards a child or young person can raise it using the contact details in section 8. All concerns will be taken seriously and responded to promptly.

7. Review

This Policy will be reviewed at least annually, or earlier if there is a change in legislation, the nature of Inner Edge Psychology's services, or following any incident or concern raised under section 6.
